President: Christine Fanelli
I have been involved with WAG for a number of years. I began as an adopter that volunteered at meet and greets and other WAG activities. I spent many Saturday mornings, in all types of weather, traveling with my hound Willow to South Windsor to walk the dogs WAG had staying at a kennel. I began fostering not too long after I adopted Willow. I managed to foster for a while before failing at fostering with Lance, my second greyhound. I have since lost both Willow and Lance, but am the proud owner of Maggie and Bullet and I continue to foster. My other volunteer experiences include being involved with the pet therapy program at Bristol Hospital and as a member of the YMCA Camp Sloper Alumni Committee.

In April of 2012 Cheryl failed fostering and adopted Dory (Sunshine Sarah) and failed fostering again in May 2012 and adopted George (Pass the Smokes). She shares her home with her three greyhounds, her husband, Bill and her son, Billy in Glastonbury. Cheryl has been the Treasurer since 2006.

I’ve owned English Bulldogs all my life. And, I only adopted a greyhound because I wanted a buddy to walk with instead of a stubborn bulldog who sat down after 5 minutes. Cooper, my first greyhound, came in 2003, then Tori in 2004, and Jasmine in 2005. Cooper spent quite a few years volunteering for the Connecticut Humane Society’s Pet Facilitated Therapy program. Lily, my two-year-old hound, is the newest greyhound-joy-of-my-life. My little pitbull mix, Mickey, along with Tori, Lily, and a new foster think that the best way to enjoy the day is to ride endlessly around the block just seeing the sights. In-between spoiling my best friends, I’ve found time to volunteer for various WAG adoption events, dog walking and socialization for the Humane Society, the Sadie Mae Rescue Foundation, and Out To Pasture Farm and Rescue.
Operations Director: Johanna Lewis
I have been an active volunteer with WAG since 2002, and have served in various capacities. I love acting as a Placement Representative and doing the “hands on work” with the dogs; but I am an experienced fundraiser and administrator, as well. I am happy to serve in any capacity in which WAG needs me; the priority for me is the welfare of the greyhounds. I have served on the Boards of Directors and volunteered with other not for profit groups, including The Fran Joswick Therapeutic Riding Center, San Juan Capistrano, CA; Greyhound Adoption Center, San Diego, CA; Humane Society of Sarasota County, Sarasota, FL; and Racing Dog Rescue Project, Sarasota, FL.
